our FARM!!

Founded in 1992

It started back in 1991 when my husband, Ramsey and I decided we wanted to look for a farm.  After looking around the area we decided to look up north.  We were contact by a mutual friend regarding a farm down the street from he.  So we called up the owner and set a date to come to Northern Wisconsin to take a look.  It was in November of 1991 in the middle of Deer season.  We had about 16 people crashing at our place at the time.  Our mutual friend was down in the area and stopped Ramsey and I decided to follow them up and take a look at the farm earlier than scheduled. It was the worst snow storm we have ever encountered.  It literally took us 14 hours to get to this small town called Exeland, when it usually will only have taken us 7 hours.  Once we were there we settled in for the night and went to the farm the next morning. Snow was above our waist lines and everything was extremely hard to see but we managed and before we left we bought ourselves a farm.....on a handshake.

This is a French Windowed Hip Room, Cobble Stone barn built by the original owners, the Muncin Family, in 1904.  At the stone and wood used to build this unique barn was taken off the raw land as they developed the farm during those years.  Each and every stone was carefully placed and cemented in by hand as well as every board was sawed by hand and nailed individually in place.

This beautiful scene is for real.  The small orchard in front of one of the stallion runs contains crab apples, plum, yellow apples and those great apples that are juicy and tart for those super apple pies.

The house on this farm was also built by the Muncin Family.  I was built in three stages.  The first part which consist of the kitchen, bathroom and three bedrooms was put up in 1897.  Then in 1905 another section was added on which is now the kitchen and later in 1976 a large living room, which is 1/3 rd the size of the house was added on.  Today the house has 5 bedroom, one is an office, a large living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom and a large basement.  All the wood on the original two parts were extracted from the land around the house as the Muncin Family clear the fields for future crops. In the basement you will see that the main beam are literally logs.

It was not until April 1st of 1992 that we moved into our new farm.  It needed a lot of care.  There was not a stick of fencing on the entire place which made it hard when your moving up with a herd of cattle and horses.

In the early 1900's the road you see in the front, which is actually now called State Hwy 48 was once a little tiny horse trail where passer byers traveled to and from the surrounding near towns. It eventually grew wider to accommodate the carriages and buggies and now today modern automobiles.

Blue Hills Lippitt Morgans originally started out back in 1904 with an enormous amount of land with it.  In fact it had a total of 2,000 acres.  Through the years partials have been sold off to members of the family.  At one time the farm was actually owned by Anthony P Hayward who founded the city of Hayward.  Another time the farm was sold off to a lumber company which in return sold it once again.  Today although we don't have 2,000 acres it still has quite a few acres with it.

Today our farm consists of lots of fencing. More buildings are up for the equipment and we accommodate two main stallions, seven main broodmares, many foals and lots of black angus cattle. I hope you enjoyed our small farm tour.   Thank you for stopping by.
